Thank you.
Two small words. Yet so very powerful.
You’ve likely heard about the benefits of a Gratitude Practice:
– increased happiness and positive mood
– better sleep
– greater resiliency
– better physical health
– …and so much more.

Gratitude, at its base level, is the act of giving thanks. Of being thank-full. Even using the two small words: Thank You.

How often do you say these two small words and mean them?

How often do they come out of your mouth, without a second thought? It’s kinda like asking, “How Are You?” And getting the standard response, regardless of the truth of it: “Fine” or “Good”.

Instead, take some time. Treat these two words with reverence. Only say them or write, if you truly mean it (that goes for all forms). When you write them in an email, imbue them with gratitude or love, or better yet, both! When you say them to a person, look them in the eyes. Show them that you mean it. Feel it in your body, before you give it out to the world. Say Thank You, on purpose.

Right now is the perfect time to practice. As we wind down 2024, how can you cultivate and express more gratitude in your life?

Challenge: Each day, find some way to intentionally thank someone or something. This includes yourself. Don’t be afraid to look yourself in the mirror and give thanks for something specific.

Reminder: Keep it simple. It’s as easy as looking the barista in the eye or the bagger at the grocery store and giving a heartfelt thanks. Not only does this express gratitude, but you are also truly seeing another human being, which is something we all crave. Spread the power of purposeful gratitude today.
