I have not read Mr. Ferriss’ book, The Four-Hour Workweek, so when this book arrived as a suggested reading, I was intrigued by the title without previous consideration of the author.
This is a compilation of people who were all sent a series of questions and who responded with answers to some or all of them. Some of the people you will recognize from our pop culture world. Some will not be as known by name, but by achievement.
Each has unique things to offer, and it’s a very long book. There were a few themes that caught my attention as I look at my habits and consider what I want to do differently. Meditation appeared as a habit that was life-affirming for many of the contributors. Kindness, gratitude, and self-esteem (consider those on a continuum for purposes of my compilation here) were mentioned in various forms of how the person had felt success. A couple of quotes that might give you something to consider:
“Self-esteem is the reputation you have with yourself.”
“Courage is more important than confidence.”
“You have to lift off your back foot to take a step forward.”
If you choose this one, allow yourself time to consider the answers and how they apply in your life.
