“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie
I have talked about the value of a gratitude practice for years. The inherent shift in mindset toward seeing what is going well lends itself to communicating positivity with others and eventually building a lens toward seeing the future path instead of the one that got you here.
I admit my gratitude practice is not 100% – there are days I struggle with it, and days I simply forget to pause and practice it. I stumbled on these four questions as a new way into daily gratitudes. I wonder how your workday would close out if these four questions were answered in the last 5 minutes before you stop for the day?
- Who or what inspired me today?
- Who or what brought me comfort today?
- Who or what brought me joy today?
- What action does my gratitude inspire?
Or, if you are like me, you’ll reflect on yesterday as you set your intentions for today. Either way, here’s a new approach. Give it a try, see how it feels. I’ll be practicing right along with you.
